Dear Honorable Sir,

PEPIAT URGE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS TO BE RESPECTED

South East Asia Muslim Students Federation (PEPIAT) urge Cairo to protect the rights of its citizens amid the political protests taking place in the country, particularly freedoms of expression, information and assembly.

By referring to the increased and alarming human rights violations against street protesters especially among student activists which resulted in worse political turmoil in the said country, the President of the day bear the responsibility to be the listening government to the all Egyptians.

According to security and medical report, by 30th of January, at least 102 people had been killed and 2,000 injured since protests began.

We opined that such brutal acts are not proportionate and worth enough as the trouble would harm foreigners who are living in the country for employment and academic purpose.

Besides, undemocratic measures such as media censorships and internet shut down taken by government explicitly contradict to the rights of information of Egyptians and foreigners.

In short, we from international community are deeply deplored with the ways of the security force handling the crises and strongly call on government to guarantee the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and expression.
